Clinical Reference Tool. This tool synthesizes published survival and outcome data from multiple large cohort studies and registries for clinical reference. Data represent population averages and cannot predict outcomes for individual patients. Outcomes depend heavily on institutional resources, philosophy of care, and individual clinical circumstances. Hospital variation at 22-23 weeks accounts for more outcome variation than any patient factor.
Morbidity Among Survivors
Morbidity rates are among survivors to hospital discharge. Rates decrease significantly with each additional week of gestation.
Comparison Across Studies: Survival to Discharge by Gestational Week
All percentages represent survival to hospital discharge. Highlighted row = selected gestational age. Denominators vary (all live births vs. actively treated only); see notes.
